Year Two!

Hello my loyal readers!

Yes I know I haven't written a new post in several months, but I do have an excuse for that, I was at home back in Canada and I'm pretty sure you all aren't to interested in what I do in Canada since I saw almost all of you this is post is mainly for Australian readers and the odd reader that I get from Europe! So, this is going to be on giant post about what I did back home!

So first I have to say that I was excited to go back home after being away for 10 months, I mean yes I travel a lot but that was the longest I have ever been away, and I have to say being away that long wasn't easy, but then again neither moving to a new country, making new friends, and completing one year of law school so I guess I am becoming a pro at the non-easy things!

I left Australia and the wonderful humid heat on December 2 at 12:30 in the afternoon and took my super long 15 hour flight to Vancouver, and arrived at 7:30 in the morning on December 2nd, that's right I time travelled backwards, although after that flight I definitely did not feel any younger. So my next flight to Regina was not until 11:30 that night, that is right if you did the math properly that is a longer layover in the Vancouver airport than my flight from Australia to Vancouver, and because the Air Canada staff was so accommodating (insert eye roll here), they told me I could not get on an earlier flight because I had to go with my luggage. (Right, good excuse Air Canada.) Anyways, 11:30 at night rolls around and I am finally on my way to Regina, I get home to give my mom a hug in the tiny Regina airport at 1:30 in the morning. It was a long journey home, but it was nice to feel that bitter cold wind on my skin.

The first few weeks all I did was bake cupcakes. You're probably thinking cupcakes, you spent weeks baking cupcakes? Yup I did, because my brother was getting married and being the wonderful sister that I am agreed to make the cupcakes for the wedding while being incredibly jet-lagged. And if anyone knows me my cupcakes have to be done to perfection, so 300 cupcakes and 5 different flavours later I finished at 4:00pm on December 30. Just in time for the December 31 wedding. But I do have to say they looked amazing, and from what I hear they tasted delicious!!

And yes, all of those snowflakes are chocolate piped by hand by yours truly.

A crown for the bride Princess Ivanna and a hat and bowtie for the dashing groom Christopher!

So the wedding was New Year's Eve and it was a party, I tell you, the Ukrainians know how to throw a wild party! There was not a dull moment all night. Everyone had such a good time, that it is literally going to be impossible to top a New Year's night again! And I know you are all dying to see the most amazing wedding pictures, but since those aren't for me to share I will just share one of the bride and groom, my favourite.

The wedding was a blast but it was nice just to be there with my family, it was a lot of fun! But this is my favourite picture of me and my brothers, it is one of the few pictures taken ever that all 3 off us look normal in!

See? Don't we look adorable. I think we do!

So besides the wedding that took up basically the whole month of December. January was much less busy, yes I worked but the evenings were free and no wedding planning or baking or anything, it was nice to just relax and do nothing!  The only thing that kept me super busy was bridesmaid dress shopping which consumed almost every Saturday I had in January. Yes that is a lot of dress shopping but I guess I am just such a popular person that everyone wants me in there wedding. How many weddings you may ask? Well that would be four! Four weddings within the next year. It's going to be a busy year of speech writing on top of all the wonderful papers I am sure to write for law school! But hey, at least I am going to have a great selection of dresses to choose from to wear to the law ball! (Which is the social event of the season for law students for those of you that don't know!)

Other then that not a whole lot happened. I drank wine with friends, went for wings with friends, and just caught up with some of the people I missed. Thankfully it was not that cold. As in there was only one week that was colder than -30 and the week that I left it was +5, you seriously can't beat that weather for January. But now Regina is getting slammed with -40 and blizzard conditions and I sit here in my apartment loving the air conditioning.

Since I have been back to Australia I have been getting my tan on, spending several days at the beach basking in the glorious sunshine, and slowly going through Starbucks withdrawal. All in all it has been good to be back! Also just before I left home I cut all my hair off, and by all I mean to about shoulder length, but for me that is basically all. The longest piece of hair that was chopped off was 13 inches, with a few shorter layers in there, for those of you wondering, yes I did donate it to a cancer agency so they could make wigs with it! Since I do not have a picture of my awesome new hair, so stay tuned to my next blog for an awesome picture of my new hair.

No, I'm not sunbathing topless, I am wearing a strapless top because no tan lines allowed for me, cause I can't look bad in those bridesmaid dresses this summer!

Next week is when it starts to get busy for me, lots of mentoring training sessions and UNLSA events, and of course touring the new batch of Canadians around the campus. Then on the 23rd, I start school, which I'm not going to lie, sort of super excited about!

Now it is time for me to start supper so it is done in time for some MKR, for my Canadian readers, that stands for My Kitchen Rules, which is super awesome show, and Chris Hemsworth cousin is on the show tonight, and yes he looks like a younger thor, and yes he is Australian, maybe he will be single and I can track him down. Just saying, its worth a shot! :)

So until next time, stay warm Canada, I promise to soak up the rays for you! ;)
