Happy Easter

Happy Easter Everyone! Can you believe it is already April? I can't! Time has seriously just flown by this past month. Second year has started and it has literally been go go go from the beginning. Every weekend in March I thought to myself, I should write a blog post, but was like I want to include all the awesome stuff I have coming up, I think that was my way of procrastinating in writing one. So this is going to be a very long post to encompass the first 6 weeks of school and all the awesome stuff that I did!

First off I want to say that Monday's are by far my favourite day of the week. I know you're thinking Monday's as in the day after Sunday? Nobody like Monday's! Well I do. It's the day where I get to go to the legal center and work on cases, as in real cases with real clients, not just pretend make believe ones. Also I get to dress up in lawyer like clothes, and well it's me, I love dressing up period. The rest of the week is by far not as interesting. I have super boring legal practice and professional conduct on Tuesday mornings. Tuesday is my new Monday's where I need 5 teas and 7 coffee's to get me to 1pm. It is seriously a struggle. Then Tuesday evenings I have my very first elective, and only class I am interested in this semester, International Human Rights, it seriously gets my blood boiling every class. There is just so much debate and controversy about it even within our class of 50, I can't even imagine trying to debate and argue a point to the whole world like the United Nations does, it is just so crazy, and I just really hope one day, I can put my Human Rights lawyer skills into practice. The next day is Wednesday, this is also a legal center day most weeks. If you remember back to one of my blog entries from last year you may remember that I was in awe of sitting in an interview room with real clients and just observing and watching the 4th and 5th years be all knowledgeable and ask questions. Well this year I am the knowledgeable 4th year (or at least I think I am) and I get to ask the client into the room and ask important questions! It is by far my second favourite day of the week. Thursday is employment law in the afternoon, seriously a brain frier of a class. I honestly took the class because it was the best of the worst electives that wasn't human rights. Don't get me wrong for the most part it is interesting but it really does a number on your brain, with all the awards, enterprise agreements, national system employee/employer mumbo jumbo, it is just all intertwined and very confusing at times. People actually fall asleep in class, I'm surprised I haven't fallen asleep in that class yet. Then there is Friday, Civil Procedure. This class basically has to do with the court system and the hierarchy of it and what suit can go to which court. It is not a boring class, it is just very dull material, and it is really hard to make a dull material into an interesting class, which I guess is why she hands out chocolate bars to the people that show up and can answer questions. That basically sums up my week in school, then the weekend is spent doing assignments, catching up on readings, and sleeping.

The first week of school went by in a blur, no word of a lie, it was a blur, it was like woohoo first day of school to holy crap the first week of school is done already, I'm seriously never going to get any school work accomplished if it goes by that fast. The second week of school was Amber's and my first UNLSA event! We had to plan a welcome back BBQ for the law students, and yes we pulled it off, sausages on bread (because buns are to expensive and didn't fit in our menial budget) with sauce (aka BBQ sauce and Ketchup - no mustard because apparently people in Australia don't put mustard on sausages - weird I know). Amber and I did some awesome BBQing and served about 150 law students, that is pretty dang awesome if you ask me, and that equals a lot of sausages cooked in a very short amount of time in the very hot sun.

After a very long and exhausting second week of school, we decided all the super awesome Canadian law students plus a few plus ones deserved a night out on the town. I'll let the pictures tell how much fun was had. ;)

Meena is literally the Queen of selfies (cause she takes like 5000 a day), and I like being in her selfies, because it doesn't matter how bad I look she can always make me look super awesome in them! Also, side note - totally just came to me that Meena and I both have orange polka dot dresses. This was also a very good night because one of Nicole's super awesome friends told me there is no way I could be turning 27 next week because I don't look a day older than 23 and that's on the high end of ages, seriously the best news I have received this year!

After that night out, we had the committal which is the first law party of the year. The committal you may ask seems like a weird name for a party, but keep in mind we are law students - so our law parties have law related names -  The Committal, The Trial, The Sentencing, and lastly The Parole. Yeah I know super unique right. They are actually super fun parties where law students just get to let loose and forget about homework and studying for a night and have some serious fun with friends. Also, did I mention they are themed, because clearly all law parties need to have super awesome themes, like this one - the theme - Superhero's and Super Villains. I went as Harley Quinn, for those of you who don't know who Harley Quinn is, I am appalled and we should not be facebook friends, but I shall enlighten you anyways. Harley Quinn is Joker's (a villain from batman) crazy girlfriend, she is a little psychotic and a lot of fun, so it was super easy to get into character! ;)

It was a fun night with good friends. And I honestly can't wait for the next one!

The next week after was trivia. I didn't realize how much I sucked at trivia and all things random knowledge until I was on a trivia team. Anyways, our team lost, not last place lost, but close to it. It was a fun night with fun friends. We did bring Australian's along to join our team, you know just in case there were some Australian based questions, which there were, but there Australian knowledge for the most part was just as bad as ours.

This was our team minus Meena and Michael, I don't know where they are. You can also see how red I am in this picture, a little bit to much sun I guess. I spent the afternoon at the beach, and when I got home from the beach, my cheeks were a little flushed, but all else was good. I went to the washroom half way through the night and was shocked when I looked in the mirror, I was bright red, like a lobster, I promptly walked back to Meena and gave her heck for not informing me of how red I was. Her excuse was that it was just hot in the venue, which it was. Thankfully two days later I was a nice shade of brown, all redness gone!
Thankfully after trivia, there have been no more UNLSA events so I could catch up on some TV show watching, I mean reading textbooks.....

Then it was my birthday, yay, Happy Birthday to Me! I'm officially a 27 year old (who looks a maximum 23), still in University, living in a dumpy apartment, with a roommate, and would rather spend the day at the beach then at work. That sentence right there really has to say something about us Gen Y'ers right?! If you know me, I like my birthday low key, just a night with friends, and a bottle or two of wine, nothing to fancy. I got semi dressed up, and put on my super ugly yet super cute heels and went and got me some ribs for supper. Literally such good ribs, can't even begin to describe how yummy they were! Here are some pics of the night.

Do you see what I mean by super ugly yet super cute shoes!

This is a birthday present from my wonderful friend Michelle! She knows my obsession with David's and was generous enough to send me two new collections all the way to Australia, because they don't ship internationally! Plus a cupcake card, there is clearly a reason she is one of my best friends!

This is my birthday present to myself, I was eyeing them up for weeks, and finally decided that I needed them. They were not an impulse buy, I sat and thought about them, and decided I needed them to go in my travel room whenever I get another house. Besides everyone needs cute little patchwork map through pillows!

Then this past weekend Meena's friend André came to visit (hint hint friends of mine that haven't come to visit me yet, Meena's friend has, and technically Ontario is farther from Australia than Saskatchewan - Just saying). Meena planned a super awesome weekend with him, and because I'm the super awesome roommate I got to tag along. First stop was Sydney to pick him up and go to the zoo! Yup I said zoo, not going to lie, I was very excited to go to the zoo!

As we were waiting for the ferry to take us to the zoo, we did what everyone in Sydney does, stare at the harbour bridge and the opera house and the water. Except when I looked down into the water I saw these little creatures, which I assume are jelly fish. I'm not 100% sure or anything, but I'm going to call them jellyfish because I do not have any better guess.

Then of course there is the glorious Opera House, which I have to take pictures of every single time I go by it. There is just something about it, it is like it is yelling "Take pictures of me even though you already have 300 of them. You may not have seen this angle yet." Speaking of angles as I was on the ferry to the zoo, I did get a new angle, the front of it, or the back I'm not 100% certain which it is, but it was definitely a new sight for me.

Finally we get to the zoo, and the very first animal I see is a koala bear, they were sleeping of course but oh my goodness cutest things ever! I really wanted to go pick one up, put it in my purse and take it home and cuddle it.

Yes I know I may have taken like 500 pictures of them, but they are just so gosh darnnit cute!

This is a Komodo Dragon, pretty cool huh? Look at his let closely, his hand looks like a real hand!

These are some tree frogs of some sort, they were so green!

This is another Komodo Dragon, just a baby one though, look at his super cool tongue!

This is a giraffe, yes I know we all know what giraffes are at home, but I took it for the amazing view of Sydney in the background, so when you stop looking at the super cool giraffe, check out the opera house and the harbour bridge behind it.

This was the first time I was up close to a Kangaroo, and not trying to dodge them in a car. They are sort of really creepy creatures, and you can see the little joey in the mama's pouch, which is also just super creepy looking. I though they would be cute cuddly creatures like on TV, but nope I was wrong. I guess I'll just have to go back admiring the cuteness of the koala bears.

Such cute Koala's.

I unfortunately didn't get to take a picture with a real Koala but this stuffed one is almost as cute as a real one, I wonder if he will fit in my suitcase to take back home?

On Saturday, we all went on a wine tour to see the beautiful Hunter Valley. (If any of my friends decide to come visit I will take you on one!!!) Just check out the awesome pictures and see how much fun it was!

Just a gorgeous view from our table at the first wine tasting.

Making new friends with some delicious wine!

Bus selfie!

The good ol' vodka distillery!

Some super awesome Canadian law students and a few plus ones!

Well that has been my month of March, it was a super fun month, and if that is how the year is going to be I cannot wait for the rest of the year and each and every month. Now that Easter Break has commenced, it is time for a few drinks and a lot of relaxation, at least for a day until the researching and essay writing has to start!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
