Jam Packed Week!

Remember how I told you this week was going to be insanely busy?!?! Well that was a complete understatement! I am only about 50 hours behind on sleep, but that's alright because it was fun!

Monday was St. Patricks Day! 🍀 I'm usually not one to celebrate but as my friends are ex-bartenders they don't ever turn down a celebration, so I put on a green shirt and found an Irish pub and had some fun! The Irish pub I'm referring to is called Finnigans hotel, yes I know weird, and it was more of a bar than a pub, but apparently it's the closest one can get to Irish in this country! Also they call bars hotels which is weird, it's 3 floors of different dance floors, but definitely no rooms for you to lay your head down and fall asleep! I got home super late, thank goodness Tuesday is a day of rest!

Tuesday was a lets try and catch up on homework day! I pretty much failed at that attempt, and turned it into a lets catch up on TV shows kind of day! That evening, I went to listen to the "Great Debate" where students and teachers debate each other on a provided topic, the topic this year was "should university make you life ready or job ready?" It was amazing, and super funny, got my laughs in that night!  The teachers won, but hopefully there is a rematch because I definitely won't hesitate to attend it! Also on Tuesday I found out I got a scholarship, which made me very happy, and kind of made me feel smart! Yay go me! That's my little bragging blurb, I'll stop now 😃

On Wednesday I went to a movie with Meena, she's my new movie junkie friend, cause she is addicted to new releases and popcorn as much as I am! We saw non-stop, I was kind of weary about the storyline cause the whole movie takes place on a plane, but one shall never doubt Liam Neason and his ability to make a fabulous storyline come to life! After I got home from the movie I rushed off to an event for a group I signed up with called 'University of Newcastle Student Exhange Network' or UNSEN, it's basically a group of people who are studying abroad or who want to study abroad and help each other with connections in there home country. I met a few people but mostly Amber and I just drank beer, it was so hot, and super humid! (It's really the humidity that kills you and makes you drink beer!) After That we came back to my place (cause I'm the only one with air conditioning in my room) and started working on our hockey jerseys (I'll get more to that on Friday), but we painted and chatted and had a lot of fun, till it was way past my bedtime.

Thursday was my day of rest, well except for contracts, contracts makes my head hurt! I don't know what it is about that class, but I just can't wrap my head around my profs teachings! After class I out on my comfy shorts and caught up on my crim homework, and went to bed early, which seemed like a good idea till I was woken up at 3 in the morning by the ridiculous children who live in this dorm and have no respect for others, because they think it's totally fine to yell and shout up and down a hallway. Completely rude, I have inmates that behave better than these college students (I also love how I refer to inmates like an animal, something I own and control), it's just easy to make my point that way!

Friday was an awesome day! Crim in the morning (love that class, but I'd never be a crim lawyer), then after school I had my first online law test (eeeek!) it was on torts, it was pretty basic, nothing to exciting, our prof just wanted to see where our knowledge level was at after 3 weeks of class. After the test, Amber and I started drinking wine, yes we know it was 2 in the afternoon, but we figured that wine would help us figure out what absolute liability meant, and give us some examples of it. It didn't, but we did have some other really good conversations about life, especially life back at home, and how we do secretly miss it, but we also secretly know that being here in Australia is the right thing for us! Also don't judge us for starting to drink so early, I'm German, and she is Ukrainian, so all in all that should be a good enough excuse! At around 5:00, Meena and Renee came over and we got ready to go out for our very first extra-curricular law event. It was Olympic themed, hence the hockey jerseys, we went as the women's gold medal hockey team, we had hockey sticks, and gold medals, and everything.

It was a super fun night, we danced and partied till the wee hours of the morning when it became my Australian birthday, and then I went home. I couldn't stay awake any longer (I'm 26 now, I'm getting old, can't party like I used to...not that I used to party).

Saturday was my Australian birthday! Google even knew it was my birthday,

See?!?! How awesome is that! Google is my new friend, but google also made me miss cupcakes...
Saturday was a total waste of a day, I stayed in bed till 11, then I got up for lunch, then I went back to bed until 430, when I got up to go out for supper. My friends took me out to the landing for supper, which is on honeysuckle, my favourite place in newcastle, I ordered a cocktail to drink, did you know cocktails as in a paralyzer which is technically half milk, costs $16, yup $16, completely outrageous, this is why I have been converted to beer, $5 for a schooner is a little more reasonable! After supper we went to the ice cream place and I had some lemon gelato, (not as good as the place on Hamilton street, but it hit the spot). We then took the bus home, and I swear it must have been a full moon because holy smokes were there crazies out! Like unreal crazies! And not just crazy, but I mean absurdly dumb people as well. I just don't understand some people in today's work and how they function in society! Anyways I was all snuggled up in bed last night by 10 and had a very peaceful sleep. This is the super awesome birthday present I got from my super awesome friends here in Aussie Land!

Don't judge, you know you want one too!

Today is my real birthday, or my Canadian birthday, and I must admit I'm a little homesick today, not being able to spend the day with my family, but that's alright, I know they will eat the cake for me! I spent the day doing my torts assignment, my very first case analysis! (I hope I did it right...)

Mom you should be proud of me, I have an assignment due in the morning and I'm done it and have submitted it before 4am! I am becoming less of a procrastinator! 😉 Tonight I watched scandal and suits and ate some popcorn, which by the way Australians totally scam you on popcorn check out there "full size bag"
Believe me it looks bigger in the picture than it does in real life!

So anyways that was my crazy hectic week, and this week I am guaranteeing myself it will be boring, because I'm going to make it that way!

Week 3 Already!

I can't believe it is already March 17! I have realized I suck at writing in this blog as it has been 12 days since my last post. I also told myself I was going to write in a journal every night, so I remember all the awesome stuff I do here. I have also failed at that! School has gotten in the way of all of it, but I am having some awesome fun as well, I'm also finding school really fun. I know that is super nerdy of me to say, but I'm really enjoying my four law classes, well three of them anyways. I really dislike contracts, and I think i'm going to end up being self-taught in that class, because well, my prof is really good at talking to himself. But Torts, Legal Systems, and Criminal Law are all pretty awesome. But anyways, I know you're not reading this to hear about my interestingly boring classes, but to hear how awesome Australia is.

So I honestly can't remember what has happened since March 5, which was my last post, so I have brought up my calendar to see which events I have gone to since then. So besides going to class, I have reading, and reading, and reading. I swear you have to put in a minimum 20 hours of reading a week on top of your classes. Which is why on the 9th, Meena, Renee, and I had a girls night. We needed a break, so we ordered pizza, and drank some wine, in my tiny dorm room, my room is always the get together room cause its got Air Conditioning. Also on that night, we tried Tim Tams for the very first time, Tim Tams are the greatest cookie I have ever had. They are so hard to describe, but it's sort of like two chocolate wafers with chocolate mousse in the middle then coated in chocolate. One would think that they would be way to chocolatey, but it is just the perfect amount of yummy, delicious chocolate. I will be bringing some home when I come. Just so everybody can experience the amazingness of a Tim Tam.

On the 11th, I attended a graduate careers expo, and was very disappointed that you have to be an Australian citizen to get any type of job here, it wasn't really that informative for me, so I got up early for no reason. That afternoon, Meena and I caught a train into the city, we are fortunate that there is a train stope on campus, although it is very much a swamp land.

(Perfect place to hide a body)

Once in the city, we went for lunch and a drink along honeysuckle which is right along the harbour, it is such a beautiful area, full of exotic flowers and big ships, very peaceful, I think I'm going to find a place around there next year to live.

After lunch we made our way to the legal center, to listen to Hon. Michael Kirby, Chair of the UN Commision of Inquiry on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, speak. He was amazing! He discussed North Korea and Human Rights, and what the UN is doing in regards to the issue of North Korea. The speech was over an hour, but I wish he was given more time, because he would have gone into more detail. I could have sat there for hours just listening to him speak, it is something I am so interested in.  After the speech, we went to Darby street and found a Thai restaurant where we had supper, where I had the best pad thai ever! I'll never be able to eat it in Regina agin, because it was just so full of flavour and deliciousness here.

Friday the 14th was a busy day, Criminal Law all day, well for half a day, because I only half class till noon. After class I rushed home and changed, and packed for my trip to Sydney! Amber won AFL tickets and I won via rock, paper, scissors elimination to go with her. We caught the train to Sydney from Newcastle, it's a 2.5 hour train ride, but it's only $8.60 which is a pretty good deal. It was a long ride, but that's because we were so excited to be going to Sydney. Amber's friend was singing at the Opera house, so we got tickets to watch her. Once we got off the train, we dropped our bags off and went to meet them at the Opera Bar. The opera bar, is oh my goodness gorgeous, but OMG expensive! You're paying for the view with your drinks!

That was the view from the supper table where I was sitting, just gorgeous. I was being such a tourist and taking so many pictures. But I was just in awe at the beauty that surrounded me. Including these two gorgeous ladies, Amber and Alya (who was singing at the opera house and was such an amazing host as she let us stay in her house as well).

At 8:00, we made our way to the opera house, and found our seats for the show. The opera house was very underwhelming, I though it would be extravagant on the inside, but it's just plain jane ordinary, except for the pipe organ, which I was just in awe over. But I'll let you decide for yourself. Here are some pictures of what the inside looks like.

As underwhelming as the inside was, the show did not disappoint. It was called Russian Daydreams, and the orchestra played pieces by Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev.  Then there was this guy...

If you're going to pay $140 to sleep, I will let you buy me tickets and I will watch the show for you! After the show we had drinks at the opera bar for a few hours and met some awesome people, the Alya took us home to sleep. Stefan, Alya's husband blew up the air mattress for us, so we didn't have to sleep on the floor. Once again I must reiterate how nice these people are.

On Sunday morning, we got up for breakfast, and I had eggs benedict for the very first time in my life, it was very delicious. then we went shopping before we made our way back to the harbour, to take the ferry to olympic stadium. The ferry ride was amazing, I saw so much of Sydney that I wouldn't have seen if I took the train to the stadium.

A cruise ship and the bridge (which you can climb all the way to the top of)

The amazing Opera House again

A Mansion

It was an hour ferry ride, and that is also when the sun decided to come out, so I got a little red in the face. The AFL game was amazing, the Australian football league is nothing like the Canadian football league. It has no rules, and it is very violent, people were kicking, and punching, and choking each other. All I got from the game was that, if you get the ball between the middle two posts, the team scores 6 points, but if you get it between either of the side posts, it's only 2 points. The Giants ended up beating the Swans, 99-69. It was an intense game and I would definitely go back and see another one. The atmosphere was electrifying, literally and metaphorically. Here are some pics from the game.

The stadium, (looks like its going to storm)

Here comes the lightening

$5 garbage bag ponchos, so wet, so cold.

What's up with the short shorts? (Anyone got an answer for me?)

The guys in pink are the water boys, because they don't have offensive or defensive lines, the players don't get a break unless they pull themselves out.

The Giants bench (once again short shorts)

Fighting for the football

After the game, we missed the bus, because we had to use the washroom, so we caught the train to central station at 8:23 and missed the early train to Newcastle, so we bought tickets for the 10:45 train. Since we had time to kill in Sydney till our train left, we found a backpackers bar, and had a few beers, met some really creepy guys, bought some Hungry Jacks, which wasn't very good, its supposed to be exactly like Burger King, but its not. They just name there burgers whoppers and have onion rings, but they are different. I was very disappointed in the food. But we managed to get on the train, and make our way back to Newcastle, we arrived back home at 2:00 in the morning. Train stations are scary in the morning, thankfully, Amber's friend Mike picked us up and took us home. Yesterday was a catch up day cause I had to much fun in Sydney and didn't get much studying done.

Now it's week 3 of school, and it is going to be an action packed week, Thursday is my only free night this week, and hopefully it stays that way, because it will be full of readings. If you are lucky enough to be facebook friends with me, you can check out the video of the game, and a video of a piece from the opera house. So that has been my past 10 days, action packed and reading packed.

Have a fun and relaxing week!

Time for School!

So school started on Monday and I am already overwhelmed by the amount of material and reading they want us to do. I should clarify, I am overwhelmed but not in a bad way, overwhelmed in an exciting way!

In theory I have only had one day of school as I don't have class on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Slacker me I know!

Monday was a really long day, I set my alarm for the first time since I've been in Australia to get up bright and early at 7:00am. I haven't seen 7:00am since I left canada and I was really starting to enjoy the sleeping in. But I got up and went down for breakfast and filled my coffee mug with coffee and ventured on to my torts class. It is a solid 20 minute walk up hill, and it was hot, and sticky, and just obscenely humid on Monday morning! That is my little complaining rant. I'm done now. Torts was awesome. I am so impressed with myself that I understood a solid 75% of what he was talking about (High five me!). Torts is a 2 hour class and normally I would have a tutorial right free wards but tutorials don't start till next week. So after class we went to the shortland hub where I attempted and failed to read my text for the next class. At 1:00 I had my next class, legal systems and methods, I already love my prof for that class. She is an incredibly sweet old lady! We really didn't discuss anything in regards to that class, as she was so busy getting to know us all in great detail. The class would usually run till 4:00, but she let us out at 2:30 so we could get to the city to see the Chief Justice, aka Judge, give a speech on the trials and tribulations of being a lawyer, which is probably a terrible speech to hear on you first day of law school, but I quite enjoyed it and found it very inspirational. After his speech we went to this boardroom with a balcony and we had canapés and beverages. The canapés were delicious, the hostess was adorable, she was explains to us what each one was, and then we asked her about the difference between appetizers and canapés and apparently there is a difference, she just couldn't explain it to us. I personally think canapés is a fancy word for appetizers. During our little mingle, we ran into the president of the UNLSA, and we invited him out for supper with us. He gave us the low down on Australia, and we gave him the low down on how weird everything in Australia is. It was a really good night. I didn't get home till 930. But if everyday of my law school career could be that awesome, I wouldn't have a problem with it!

On Tuesday, I didn't do much, I slept in, and then went to donate blood at 1:00, it's pretty much the same as donating in Canada except for the bandage you get afterwards. If you've never donated blood, once the take the needle out they put a bandaid over top, and send you on your way, here there bandaid makes it look like you had minor surgery on your arm!
Sq
Point in case, what a waste of perfectly good medical materials! Tuesday evening we had our Edwards hall commencement dinner, where we got to dress up all fancy! They had a main which in Canada is called an appetizer which was smoked salmon which was rolled up with dill cream cheese in the middle.  Then the main was a steak with potato gratin, and some vegetables, it was very yummy! But my favourite was the dessert, a hazelnut cheesecake, and yes it tasted even better than it sounds! This is Renee and I all dolled up for the commencement dinner. I'm wearing 4 inch heels, and I'm still shorter than her!

After the commencement dinner I did some reading and then fell asleep a bit earlier than planned but that's okay!

Today, which is Wednesday, I figured out where the train station was on campus, and I figured out how to buy a ticket from the machine (if you saw the hundreds of buttons on the machine, you'd understand how complicated it is), and then I went to the beach (thank goodness for google maps, or I would have walked the wrong way). At the beach, I read my criminal law textbook, and enjoyed the +32 weather, when I got to hot, I went for a swim, then continued to read, couldn't think of a better way to spend an afternoon studying! Tonight I went to an Amnesty International event, which is a group I joined, as I'm very interested in the international human rights aspect of the law, and we watched the movie "I am a girl" it was a good movie about girls around the world and how different there lives are from each other.

Now I'm going to go do some more reading for contract law, before I fall asleep!

O-week

Hey Peeps! I know I haven't written in a while, I've been busy, this week has been jam packed full of awesome activities for students! So as I drink my after supper hot chocolate I will fill you in on my fun filled week of activities.

On Sunday, I went to a food and music festival with Amber and Renee. It was an interesting morning trying to get there. First we got off on the wrong stop, then we started walking in the wrong direction, thank goodness that was only for 5 minutes, before my brain kicked in and was like, why are you walking this way. Anyways, we walked for a solid hour to get to the festival on Beaumont Street. It is a very nice street full of little antique shops and cute little restaurants. The festival was nice, it had booths set up to advertise some of the stuff in Australia, one booth was giving little samples of ginger beer, we had a little taste and it was really good, Amber and I almost asked simultaneously, "what's the alcohol percentage in this?" The guys response was, "There is no alcohol." Amber turns to me and says, "must be the prairie girl in us, to automatically assume that beer means alcohol." As we left disappointed from that booth we found a booth selling frozen sangria, sangria is amazing to begin with but a frozen slushie of it, was just to good to pass up. This booth was in front of the restaurant Guzman y Gomez, so we figured we would stop for a bite to eat as well. I had the spicy chicken enchilada burrito, the guacamole on the top was the most amazing guacamole I have ever eaten. I could have just had a plate of guacamole and I would have been happy! The enchilada burrito was amazing too, it was huge, and I could only finish half, and they served it with cute little wooden utensils.

After lunch, we wandered around a bit more, but it was starting to get cool, so we headed back towards  Ambers house where we dropped her off and then Renee and I headed to the bus stop, for our ride back to the University. Just a side note, I really miss my car!

On Monday, was our international orientation, which was mandatory for all international students to attend. It was probably the most useless thing I went to all week, but on a plus side, there was lunch provided afterwards. Just sausage, with no mustard again, but it was still free food. We had a voucher for a free drink, so I got a beer, which I wouldn't normally drink at home, because beer at home is gross, but I have fallen in love with James Squire beer down here. And it is so refreshing on a hot summer day! After the BBQ, the blackbutt reserve brought a few animals in for us to hold, I held a baby bearded dragon, yes I asked if it breathed fire (its a dragon, complete legitimate question), and no they don't. His tiny claws were super sharp, but he was kind of cute in a really ugly reptilian way.

I have no idea who the random person is in that picture, she just wanted to look cool I guess. They also brought in a snake, which no I did not handle, and barking geckos, and this thing that looked like a praying mantis (which took me back to a really disturbing criminal minds episode) but it was just a relative of the praying mantis, and I can't remember what it was called.

After that we went to the expo, which is full of booths from different clubs around the university, it was overwhelming there are so many of them! I signed up for the goon club (only because they are going on a wine valley tour). For those of you reading this who don't know what goon is, which to be honest was me before I asked, it is wine that comes from the box, they call it goon, because from what I understand it is the shit of the wine. I'm not sure if it is the same as in Canada, as wine from a box has become pretty common place at home, but I think I'll stick to wine from a bottle, as the side effects of goon from what I hear are just ridiculous and a little scary. I also signed up for UNLSA which is the University of Newcastle Law School Association, I am super excited for this as they have competitions for negotiating, mooting competitions, they have conferences throughout the year and of course the prestigious law ball (which I am super stoked for), among so many other opportunities. I also signed up for UNISEN, which is strictly for international students as well as Amnesty International, which is all about human rights issues.

On Tuesday, I didn't do much, I slept in, went to the shortland building, facetimed mom, had a coffee from Gloria Jeans (which is about as close to Starbucks as I'm going to get I think), and then when 2:00 rolled around we started our campus quest. The campus quest was designed to help us with finding our way around campus, but since I have been here for 3 weeks, I know my way around pretty well, so I may have been pushing my team a bit harder than need be. The first task was rock climbing, (as there is a rock climbing wall at the gym) while a team member climbed the rest of the team including myself, played a game of basketball, girls against guys, girls lost, 4-1, but I was the one who scored the point, GO ME! If anyone knows my athletic ability, they would be shocked to find out that I scored a basket in basketball!

A quick pic of Amber, Renee, and myself, before getting super sweaty playing basketball. Once our team member was done climbing the wall, we headed to our next destination, to get our next stamp, and we continued to do this until we finished, it took several hours, and it was fun. Even though our team name was District 14 (yes we may have all been Hunger Games fans), I periodically called us Team Awesome, because we were awesome. There were us 4 Canadians, and 2 Americans and 4 Germans, it was a fun day. After the quest we had an awesome BBQ supper, based on Brazilian food, it was spicy, and it was wonderful.  I most definitely preferred it to the sausage with no mustard that we usually get at BBQ's. At supper they handed out raffle tickets to win some awesome prizes, and I won something! I won a fruit and vegetable box, so I have to go pick that up on March 6th, I'm pretty stoked to see what is in the box. I'll take a pic and post it next week! We then had a beer and sat on the grass in the courtyard of the bar and listened to the live band (which actually played good music).

It was quite an enjoyable night, the three of us girls got to know each other a bit better, and we shared stories, and laughed, and it was fun to just relax. On a side not, Christopher, if you are reading this, you should sell patio covers like the one in this picture, they are awesome!

On Wednesday, there were workshops, my favorite one was the healthy living workshop, we got to put on beer goggles and try to walk in a straight line, it was really interesting to see how badly they affect your vision. The limit in Australia is .05, where as the limit in Canada is .08. I tried on one that ended at .06, then I also tried on one that ended at .10, and there is quite the difference. After the workshops ended, I went and got my criminal law textbooks, I haven't started reading them yet, but I hope they are more interesting than the Torts one. In the evening, Amber and I got tickets to go see this thing called 20/20, where people tell different parts to 20 stories in 20 seconds, it was really interesting, to listen to different peoples life stories, in 20 second segments. Amber and I tried this new wine cooler, which was okay, but then after we got a pitcher of a drink called sunset, it looked so pretty that we had to have it, we soon found out that it also tasted absolutely delicious.

We ended up sitting with these two guys, who are engineering students, they were really odd people, but they were easy to talk to. We tried to explain to them what cheez whiz was, and they tried to tell us how delicious vegemite was (which I still refuse to try), and then we showed them how cold it was at home, and found pictures of how much snow we had, and then we compared tans. Amber and I, the pasty white girls from Saskatchewan who have only had sun exposure for a month, have darker tans than the locals! Take a look!

I personally think the reason being for our darker tans is because these two gentlemen stay inside to much playing there x-boxes. Just a gut feeling, but I think I'm right. After that we went to the Bar on the Hill where we met Renee, and waited for the free bus to take us into the city, so we could go take part in student night. (Wednesday is student night here, weird I know). We ended up going to this club called customs, and all in all, we had a pretty awesome night! Here are some awesome pictures from that night!

Renee & Amber with one of the mathletes

Prairie Girls living it up!

Some of my new friends! Renee & Amber. Then there is my neighbour, Matt in the background, being a nerd.

Then me and Matt, he is such a nice guy!

The night ended at 2:30 in the morning, where exhausted me, passed out in my bed. (I'm to old to party into the wee hours of the morning!)

Thursday was shopping tour day, as in I slept in till noon, and then went to Gloria Jeans for a midday coffee, then hung around the shortland building until 3:45 when we went on the shopping tour. We went to Charlestown mall, which is the biggest mall in Newcastle, I'm still a bit overwhelmed by all the stores and the different fashion trends. The first store I went in to, I tried a bunch of super cute dresses, but everything was way to big, and I got frustrated so I gave up on trying any more clothes on. Australian sizes are so weird!  I did buy a pair of fuzzy slippers from Target though, I miss my slippers from at home, so even though it is warm here and one may not need fleecy fuzzy slippers, they definitely make my feet happy now that I have them. Around 7:30 we left the mall, and got on a bus to go meet with our international representatives Kim and Ashley. They are both from Canada, and they wanted to meet us before school started so we could get to know each other, and they could give us some information and tips on how to get through law school. We met at this place called the Squire's Maiden which is on the harbour, and it is such a beautiful place, it was dusk when we arrived so you could only see the outlines of the ships in the distance, but I'll definitely be heading down there one day to see it in the daylight. I also met two new girls in my program on Thursday as well, Paulina and Meena, they are also from Canada. Paulina has a car so she offered to drive us home, and walking to her car, I saw my first ever cockroach, yes I screamed a little bit, it was huge and gross, and I never want to see one again!

Friday was my law school orientation, I was looking forward to it all week. I woke up to pouring rain, so I figured I'd dress accordingly and put on closed toed shoes so my feet wouldn't get wet. Big Mistake! The rain was coming down so hard, that I was walking on the sidewalk in water up to my ankles, needless to say my shoes were soaked and it might be time to invest in rubber boots. Orientation started at 9:00, where the Dean of the Law School welcomed us, and had quite the discussion with us. After that UNLSA, chatted with us for a bit about how awesome it is in Law School, and all the fun stuff there is to do. And then we got split up into groups, and the JD students (aka me) got split up and had a separate sessions. I found out that there are less than 20 students in the JD program and there are more Canadians than any other nationality including Australian in the program. It's kind of awesome that Canadians are such huge representatives over here. I also found out that there are no men in the program, and if they are they did not show up for orientation, which was not a smart move on there part. I met my criminal law professor, and my Legal Systems and Methods professor, they both seem like really awesome people, and I can't wait to learn from them. During this session we got our syllabus' for all four of our classes and we also got an assignment for our criminal law class (I'm sorry I thought the semester didn't start till Monday, assignments already?!?!?) Once our session was over, we went for lunch, any guesses on what it might be?! If you guessed sausages you are correct! BUT they had mustard, so I like Law BBQ's because they supply mustard for there students and although they are still lacking in the pickle department, at least I got my mustard, it made the sausages so much more enjoyable. After lunch we went on a library tour, and were shown where the law library is, our wonderful tour guide, was also Canadian, he is in his final year here, and is originally from Niagara Falls, and his brother lives in Regina and works at the Leader Post, small world! During the library tour, they showed us the ground level which is open 24 hours, so procrastinators like me, can come use the library at 4 in the morning. After the tour was over I swung by the bookstore and picked up the last of my textbooks. It looks like I'm in for a lot of reading for the rest of my life.

Last night, I stayed in, and read my syllabus' and painted my nails, and caught up on some TV shows, before crawling into bed nice and early. I figured it could be one of the last nights I get to sleep before 11:00 for quite some time!

Today which is Saturday, March 1, 2014, I tidied up my room and started getting myself prepared for school to start. Yes I know I am a nerd, but I had to get my backpack organized and clean this mess of a desk!

I did get it cleaned off nice and tidy. Took me a few hours, but it was raining today so it's not like I could catch any tanning hours outside. I put my super cute notebooks inside my super inspirational binder and through it in my backpack, with some super awesome pens, to begin my law journey on Monday!

As I was cleaning my room this afternoon and emptying out all of my goody bags that I got all week, I realized that I definitely do not need to buy a reusable shopping bag while I am down here because I got an abundance of them for free this week. Check them out!

Anyways, I'm sure that's a long enough write up for you to read. It is now 9:00, it took me 2 hours to write this, so I am going to catch up on my TV shows aka, Scandal and Grey's because I didn't get to watch them last night, and I hear they are a must see asap kind of show. So, have a good night, and I will try not to take so long of breaks in between my posts, so they aren't novels for you all to read!
